The Abby Cornell
Softball Family Scholarship Fund

PLEASE READ IN FULL:
GSE is proud to offer The Abby Cornell Softball Family Scholarship Program.
Abby Cornell, mother to three strong, beautiful girls, lost her battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer in 2024. Abby was a wonderful mom and a much-loved member of the GSE Family. Abby’s daughters also lost their father in 2016. Alyssa, Brooke and Lily have handled themselves with strength and grace and we couldn’t be prouder of them.
We, along with the Cornell family, have decided to create a scholarship fund in Abby’s memory.
Each year one graduating GSE senior will be awarded The Abby Cornell Softball Family Scholarship. The recipient will be nominated by coaches and peers. Our Scholarship Program Board Members along with the Cornell family will meet to review each nomination and will award the recipient in the Spring, prior to graduation.
To be considered for this scholarship the nominee must display qualities that reflect Abby’s spirit and the spirit she has instilled in her daughters: strong family values, pride in their community, pride in GSE and attend GSE events. She must be committed to the sport of softball as well as her academic career.
We are proud to offer this scholarship in Abby’s memory. She really was so loved.
To launch this program, we held the first ever GSE Semi-Formal Dance in December of 2024. This Dance was open to GSE Players, their families and Alumni!
It was a wonderful night, and we plan to make this an annual event! Thank you to all who helped us reach our goal of $2000.00. Any funds raised beyond the $2000 Scholarship go directly to the Cornell girls.
Congratulations to the 2025 Abby Cornell Softball Family Scholarship recipient: SOPHIA DERY
This year's recipient will be announced early Spring at our College Signing event!
On behalf of the Abby Cornell Softball Family Scholarship board, and the Cornell Family, we want to thank you for your support.
